2016On the 28th December, 2015 I made an unfortunately fall on a metalic sculpture - a giant grasshopper with two tentacles. On of them crushed two ribs and damaged my liver and long on the right side. The result was intensive care and a dangerous infection. I spent the month of January 2016 allmost entirely in the hospital or I was sick at home. When the nurse removed my infusion, I asked her to give it to me. I used it to make a sculpture about fragility and strenght. Fortunately it was sold allmost immediately on the Rotterdam Contemporary on 10th of February 2016.

2015As an artist you don't always have the possibility to control the working process. Lots of artists have mastered their own techniques and totally rely on them to create their work. De Visser however is guided through life by coincidence. Whatever she finds (that often happens to be material that arouses her interest) she always uses for her next project. Of course you can recognize her own signature, but coincidence is always the masterful director. For Cherishing she used a pair of worn gloves. Gloves are - as she sees it - the personification of hands. And hands can carry, create, tell stories and make love.
